I said I'd bet on Slva winning. Marquart is not an elite wrestler. Your insane if don't think Rashad would give him problems. If anything it would be more like the first Sonnen fight. No I'm not insane, you obviously don't pay enough attention to detail.
Yes he can and has boxed in southpaw but when he shoots in the open it's almost always from orthodox. Anderson Silva's style is a lot more amazing than people realize, he uses his striking to fend off takedowns rather than his wrestling.
Anderson always maintains an open guard stance in striking to maximize the distance between the opponent and his back leg. When wrestler go for the takedown on Anderson he shrugs them off easily since they're shot from so far out that they are telegraphed easily. The reason why Chael Sonnen had success was because he was a very aggressive southpaw with a powerful double leg and he always closed the distance on Anderson so Anderson never had a chance to maintain open guard by switching to orthodox.
Is that enough technical jargon for you, or am I still "insane" by your standards? Shame on you. The thing is, if silva is taking a fight on short notice outside his weightclass, he is going to take one that is garunteed to be exciting Bonnar not one that could turn into a ground war that he has a slight chance of losing Evans.
I don't think silva would have a problem beating rashad, but his proven weakness is wrestlers so he has no reason to take a fill in fight against one. Fighting Bonnar is win win for everyone. Silva looks like the good guy for filling in, he gets an extra fight in, he has minimal chance of losing, and it is a garunteed war if he wants it to be. Bonnar gets one last main event fight, he gets one of the biggest paydays of his career probably, and he gets to retire after an important fight if he wants.
Yeah, I myself do believe that Bonnar will retire after this match. In fact I thought that he had already done so. With some dirty boxing on his side, he landed shots on The Spider, but not the kind of punches that could win him a fight. It made sense. Why take a chance in losing against an up-and-comer when he can build some momentum and leverage it into a big fight?
In a plea to gain a third battle with Forrest Griffin , Bonnar made the following vow :. I won't block any punches. I'll just be moving forward. I'm serious I would just go and slug it out and try to top our first one.
Scottie Pippen: "I didn't realize how much Hakeem Olajuwon had diminished in the game. After two and a half years with the 49ers and zero games played, Jalen Hurd has been released. President Biden referred to the late baseball player Satchel Paige as "the great negro" before correcting himself during his Veterans Day address at Arlington National Cemetery on Thursday.
All you need to know ahead of Friday's Warriors vs. Bulls game, including how to watch and stream the contest. Gary A. Corey Benjamin's teenage daughter was seen throwing a sucker-punch at an opponent during a basketball tournament in Southern California last weekend. Despite a pregnant wife back home and an abbreviated training camp due to the late-notice nature of his fight, Stephan Bonnar flew to Brazil with every intention of a razor-focused game plan against Anderson Silva.
As he saw it, the best course of action was to fire off his strikes first, close the distance, smother him and look for the takedown before the notorious counter-striker could fire back.
To take away his space. As the fight progressed, Silva did something unexpected. He stood with his back to the cage, content to let Bonnar dictate what was happening. To many watching, Silva comfort in eschewing conventional defense seemed to be an indication that he was about to ramp things up. Bonnar, though? He didn't see it that way. Because Silva does his best work in open space, Bonnar felt that Silva's positioning would actually benefit him.
But that all changed in an instant, when Silva tied up Bonnar's arm and landed a trip.
