How many report cards in a school year

As wonderful as it would be to only have to write two sets of report cards, I'm not sure that I'd be comfortable with just two report periods. Dec 22, I'm not sure either, dfleming. I guess the Ministry is considering it and will make an announcement about it in the next couple of weeks. Reporting has been an issue raised throughout the last couple of contract negotiations not the fact of reporting, but the time involved. If it is adopted, Ontario will be the only province only doing 2 reports.

I guess much hinges on the content of the "informal" interim report in November. Joined: Oct 22, Messages: 77 Likes Received: 0. Dec 22, I think they should keep the three report cards, but reduce the subject comments to one or two lines like in the high schools and focus more on learning skills for each teacher who teaches the child.

IMO, learning skills are much more important than actual subject content and can give parents a much clearer picture of how students are doing. Many times, I have struggled as a subject but not homeroom teacher to create my comments to let parents know what's going on while staying within the prescribed parameter for comments, focusing only on the subject and how they are doing with that curriculum, when the real problem has been their work habits in the class.

CanadianTeacher , Dec 22, Dec 22, I agree completely, CanadianTeacher. I wish our reports could be shorter, more focussed and contain less of the jargon that they do now. Why Learn French? Guidelines and Policies Anne Hope Awards. Questions and Answers. Student Accident Insurance. How do SNPs work? Why do we need Student Nutrition Programs?

What are students eating? Students Families. Report Cards. On this page Student Records and Transcripts. High schools across Ontario send home report cards in the same format that give clear information about how a student is doing.

All high school students receive a provincial report card that lists courses, percentage marks for each course, credit earned, learning skills and work habits, comments, missed classes and times late.

The course median information is also included. This is the percentage mark at which 50 percent of students in the course all sections offered at the school during that time frame have a higher percentage mark and 50 percent students have a lower percentage mark.

When Report Cards Go Home. Non-semestered high schools send a report card home three times per year - first report, second report, and the final report.
