Cyndaquil and Totodile not evolving back in Johto Thread starter CyberCubed Start date Jan 28, CyberCubed Banned. Now that Ash evolves the majority of his Pokemon each region, the one saga that stands out like a sore thumb is Johto. While Ash getting a Bayleef was nice, I find it mind blowing that Cyndaquil and Totodile never reached their full potential.
Even more odd is that Johto actually foreshadowed Ash evolving them someday. Then in "You're a Star, Larvitar," Ash sees a Quilava and contemplates evolving Cyndaquil to be stronger for the league, but the ep gets sidetracked by Team Rocket and it doesn't happen. So what was the point? Bayleef despite being evolved, is still likely Ash's weakest grass type. Noctowl suffered from mis-use. What a shame, what a shame. If it wasn't plotholes like the GS ball, its that Johto wasted potential with everything else that should have been great in that saga.
Ash-kid Ash-kid. No, it's not a shame like you said. Cyndaquil, maybe you are right, but it's not a shame, it was pretty strong in it's current form. Totodile can't evolve if he fights only twice in the league, it's not enough. Last edited: Jan 28, Cyndaquil beat Bugsy's scyther and Jasmine's steelix and still didn't evolve that is pretty shocking. Totodile didn't even win a badge for Ash but it helped with Whitney. They do need to evolve learn new moves or something.
CliveKoopa Well-Known Member. CyberCubed said:. NES Flip me to the side! Yeah, it is wasted potential. Not Ash's fault as a character , it is the writers fault. Even for the future they could been called upon! Also you could always press b to stop a pokemon from evolving so I assume it's useful somehow. But I've been playing pokemon games since the Red Version on my Gameboy Color and I have always just evolved my pokemon immediately.
Can someone let me know exactly why one would ever stop an evolution? Seems pointless to me. So basically, if you've got Pokemon X that learns move Y at level 36, but evolves into Z, who can't learn Y, at level 32, you can interrupt its evolution until it's reached level 36, granting you a Z who knows Y.
I also think there are some Pokemon that don't necessarily improve when evolving, but rather change like, say, increased Attack, but decreased Speed. Depends on the pokemon. Some learn unique moves if they dont evolve, other, or better said, most of them, just learn their evolved forms attacks many levels before sometimes over 10 lvls lower.
Most of the time is up to you, if you want to speed up the movement adquisition or not. As for myself, I dont bother with that. The extra stats are a great boost to tackle battles easier, and get to the point were I can raise new ones properly.
