What do fencers say

The correct fencing stance is as follows: The correct position involves pointing the front foot straight forward, with the back foot at a 90 degree angle to it. The feet should be around 91cm 3ft apart. Both legs should be bent, to enable the fencer to readily move speedily to make an attack or defend. Masks exist for each kind of fencing: epee, foil, and saber. Upgrading to an electric foil or sabre masks happens when the fencer becomes more competitive or starts practicing using the electric scoring systems.

If you start with the fencing, you should make initially familiar with the three different types of weapons in a fencing club. In general, the foil is regarded as a good entry weapon, but also suitable are the epee, and the sabre. Foil The foil is the second of three fencing weapons, and features a rectangular blade. Saber The saber is the last of three common weapons used in fencing, and features a flat blade and knuckle guard. Hilt The hilt is the part of the blade that a fencer holds onto, and includes the guard, the grip and the pommel.

Jury The jury is made of four people who watch for hits and touches in a bout that does not use electronic scoring. These people have to watch for hits on the opposite ends of their positions, and call hits by raising their hands to inform the referee. Point The point of the blade is the only part of the weapon that enables the fencer to score points in foil and epee fencing.

The sequence goes as follows: en-garde, pret, allez. What is the longest weapon in fencing? What is a good age to start fencing? Is fencing an expensive sport? Is fencing a fun sport? What is the goal in fencing? Why is it called fencing? Do you score touches in fencing?
